Plitvička Jezera (Plitvice Lakes) 16 interlinked lakes between Mala Kapela Mountain and Pljesevica Mountain in the region of Lika.

The lake system is divided into the upper lakes (Proscansko Lake, Ciginovac, Okrugljak, Batinovac, Veliko Jezero = Big Lake, Malo Jezero = Small Lake, Vir, Galovac, Milino Lake, Jezerce, Burgetiand Kozjak) and the lower lakes (Milinovac, Gavanovac, Kaluderovacand Novakovica Brod). Due to their natural beauty and significance, the Plitvice Lakes and a large forest complex around it were set aside as a national park in 1949.

Rakovica,a village in the funnel-shaped area of shallow karst of the Slunj plate in the north-eastern part of Lika, 15 km north of the Plitvice Lakes; elevation 391 m.

The landscape is dominated by karst phenomena; the most prominent are the caves called Baraceve Pecine (Barac Caves) near Nova Krslja. The area of the Rakovica municipality comprises the majority of the accommodation facilities of Plitvice Lakes National Park, especially the large campsite Korana.

Licko Lesce, a village in the central part of Lika, on the south-western rim of Gacko Polje (the Gacka field), 18 km southwest of Otocac; elevation 463 m.

Until 1970 called Lesce. Chief occupations are farming, livestock breeding, fishing and tourism. Situated at the main road (M5) Otocac - Gospic and on the railroad Zagreb - Split.
