Accommodation Silba

Silba, an island in the Zadar archipelago, southeast of the island of Losinj; area 15 sq km; population 221; the highest peak of the island is Vrh (80 m).

Short dry valleys descend to the coast, terminating in small coves, of which Papranica and Pernastica lie in the northern part of the island and Sveti Ante and Nozdre in the south of the island. Silba ranks among the sunniest islands of the Adriatic; 2,750 hours of sunshine a year. The only village on the island, Silba, developed on the narrowest central part of the island, between the west and east ports.

Zaglav, a village on the plateau above the cove of Triluke on the eastern side of Dugi Otok (Long Island).

The village is located on the regional road running across the island. Ferry pier; ferry line with Zadar. In 1451 the monastery of the Third Order Franciscans was founded in Zaglav; the monastery church was built by Vuk Slavogostov and Juraj Lukacevic-Zavaliska (1445-1458) (Glagolitic inscription). The monastery has a painting representing St. Anthony with the local insular landscape in the background (1653).

Island Ist

Accommodation Island Ist

Ist, an island in the Zadar archipelago, north of the island of Molat, separated from it by the Zapuntel strait.

In the west Ist is surrounded by the island of Skarda and several islets. The coast is mainly steep and covered with thick underbrush, except in the southern part. The Kosiraca Cove on the north-western coast may be used for docking. On the south-western coast is the Siroka Cove with the village of Ist. The island is partly under vineyards and olive-groves; on the slopes of Straza are woods.
